The LLama | Restaurant in Telluride, CO featuring tacos, burgers, beer, maragritas, music and more!

On Saturday the 20th of August I found myself with two other Marines in Telluride tasked with the unfortunate responsibility of carrying out funeral honors at the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge for a local Marine who had passed away recently. Seeing as it had taken us most of the day to drive up to Telluride for the ceremony we ended up staying overnight and leaving Sunday morning. As neither I nor the other two Marines had ever been to Telluride, none of us really knew what to expect or where would be a good place to relax that evening. While walking down Main St. looking for a place to get dinner, we passed by The Llama & Pescado. Here we were invited inside by Brian Ahern; former Marine, manager of The Llama, and also the local American Legion Post Commander. Under his guidance, my fellow Marines and I spent the rest of the night relaxing and enjoying the friendly atmosphere. The Llama has an inviting look and friendly atmosphere and I felt quite comfortable when I walked inside. The menu is creative and caters to just about anyone's taste. The food itself is excellent and very filling. I had the Cheddar Bacon burger and sweet potato fries that were cooked to perfection and was not disappointed in anyway. The burger was huge and almost made two meals for me. Everything was clean and any minor issues we had were taken care of promptly by the staff. Between the amazing food, excellent music, and very skilled bar staff, we were treated like family. I will recommend this establishment to anyone who spends time up in Telluride and I know that the other two Marines with me would do the same. The three of us plan on coming back as much as possible if for nothing other than to visit The Llama. The hospitality from the staff at The Llama, the American Legion, and the local Elks lodge ensured that we would be coming back in the future.

This was one of the bigger bars in Telluride that we saw. The 3 other places we checked out were more narrow and had few seating areas. This place had a lot of comfy seating and if you come early enough you can have a good meal and good drinks. We showed up for just the bar and we had a really good time. Drinks were a bit more expensive than others places (you could get a patron shot for 7-8 dollars at other places and it was 10 here), but I felt that the comfort, atmosphere, and size of the place made up for it. The bartenders were really good, friendly, and informative people. This is my favorite bar in Telluride.
