MONTROSE – The newly formed Women’s Business Alliance of Colorado, created to help businesses owned by women to succeed by providing resources and services, has been cofounded by Terri Leben and Sue Hansen. “Women have a unique set of factors that go into building a successful concern,” Leben and Hansen maintain, and “yet they still maintain primary responsibility for caretaking, whether children or aging parents, they still must do the majority of the household responsibilities, and most manage household finances as well.”

WBAC presents a Business Education Luncheon on Tuesday, March 24, at Simmer Restaurant, 320 East Main Street, in downtown Montrose, with Kelly Rhoderick of Illuminating Ideas as a guest speaker, presenting Social Networking Secrets You Should Know.

CPA Bonnie Hellman at Ouray Business Roundtable

OURAY – The topic of the next Business Round Table is Ask the CPA, featuring Bonnie Hellman, on Wednesday, March 16, 8-9:30 a.m., at the Ouray Community Center.  This session will provide an opportunity to ask questions related to taxes, record keeping, tax planning for your business and yourself, as well as running your business.

Hellman is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Colorado and Pennsylvania who has been helping individuals and businesses and preparing tax returns for 28 tax seasons. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Colorado Society of CPAs, and the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs. Full-time residents since 2006, Hellman and her husband have owned property in Ouray since 1989. Her practice includes tax work as well as business advisory services. Clients include both individuals and small businesses, many of whom use QuickBooks.

Montrose Association of Commerce and Tourism Announces Board

MONTROSE – Montrose Association of Commerce and Tourism Board Chair Polly Hohlenkamp (Leadership Circle LLC and Sports Clips) announced this week that lifelong Montrose resident Scott Beyer, of Scott’s Printing, has been elected 2011 Chair-Elect, and will become Board Chair in 2012. Joining Hohlenkamp and Beyer on the 2011 Executive Committee are Bank of Colorado’s Mark Harmon, as Secretary/Treasurer, and Best Signs’ Steve Savoy as Immediate Past Chair. Remaining on the board with executive committee members are Rich Parr, Walgreens, Retail; Keno Rodriguez, The Stone House, Restaurants; Tricia Joy, Hampton Inn – Montrose, Lodging; Sheree Wanner, Camelot Gardens, At Large; and Kathy Ellis, Mayor, Montrose City Council, City Representative.
